Aftermath of Pacechester Alcohol Ban

It has been two days since the Pacechester Alcohol Ban has taken effect and there has been mixed feelings within the residential community.

One of our top reporters, Brianna Adkins hit the streets to find out how some of the local residents of Pacechester feel about the ban taking effect.

Tyler Caffrey, carpenter and resident of Pacechester, states “I don’t have an opinion. I really don’t care”.

Another resident and free-lance writer in Pacechester, who did not want to give her name, had a strong opinion on the issue, “I think it’s absolute [expletive]. Because, again, as I said before, alcohol is one of the stepping stones that made us able to have civilization, because we couldn’t drink the water, because the water was bad. So, if we didn’t have alcohol, then we wouldn’t have had civilizations and we wouldn’t have had [any] pyramids, and I wouldn’t be here right now, because we wouldn’t have a concept of civilization. [Alcohol is] important to humanity”.

The ban will not only be affecting local residents. During a question and answer session from Pacechester’s Chamber of Commerce last week, spokesperson Gary Frayter answered a big question: how they feel about the Alcohol ban.

He stated “We do not support [the ban] and in fact, it is incredibly harmful and detrimental to our business, because the majority of income comes from alcohol for us”. This shows how this ban is affecting everyone within the community.

During today’s press conference with The Committee of Pacechester Liberty, TCPL, they informed the public that they do not support the Alcohol ban, because it “…infringes upon the rights of the Pacechester community and will affect the economy specifically concerning profit made by local companies”.

Mayor Andrade and her team get honest with PaceFeed

PaceFeed reporter, Brianna Adkins, got to interview Mayor Andrade and her team today. Here are some highlighted quotes from the interview.

“I just think that our community is really important and it’s something that I, as a little girl, just wanted to get involved with more. It started off as an internship, but then I just grew to love my role more, so I stuck around for it.” Amelia Gilmer, Communications Director on Mayor Andrade’s team.

“I really believed in her message about keeping the infrastructure of the community.” Gabby Corey, Events Coordinator on Mayor Andrade’s team.

“We work together to make sure our message is clear. Mayor Andrade is a very positive person, and she just wants what’s best for Pacechester. I believe in her and I know she will achieve greatness.” Alyssa Madonna, Copywriter on Mayor Andrade’s team.

“I just believed in her visions and goals.” Juan Pagan, Coordinator of Media on Mayor Andrade’s team.

Mayor Andrade has a community of workers who respect and admire here, and it was clear in this interview.

Workers threaten strike at andPizzetta

At a press conference held by andPizzetta today, andPizzetta CEO Dayami Rivera along with spokesperson Nicholas D’Antoni spoke out about the alleged strike by andPizzetta workers.

When asked about how he feels about the ‘strike’, D’Antoni said “we do not want any of our employees to feel undervalued because we really think of andPizzeta as a family.”

The business has taken a quieter approach to avoid the strike which could cost andPizzetta valuable time, and as a result, profit.

“[We] are a family run business so we have multiple employees not asking for [more] money” says Rivera.

When asked how they would handle wage negotiations, Rivera again responded stating, “We hear where our employees are coming from. I will call in employees individually to speak with Human Resources about their pay.”

One such employee, Dan Citardi, assistant to the head chef at andPizzetta claimed to have received contact regarding his pay as promised by Dayami.

When asked about the raise he received following the press conference, he said “I am happy [with the raise] but I wouldn’t like to discuss the details.”

Correction: andPizzetta CEO Dayami Rivera was cited as Dayami several times and that has been corrected to Rivera.

PCC and MADD partner for Power of Pacechester

Following a press release earlier today, PCC(the Pacechester Coalition) and MADD(Mothers Against Drunk Driving) laid out plans to collaborate on what they call the Power of Pacechester.

Specifically, they plan to hold an event called Power of You(th) on October 18th where speakers directly affected by drunk driving will tell their harrowing stories to teens.

This comes off the heels of a development in the Craig Scott case last week where Scott was confirmed to have been over the legal limit for intoxication in his reckless driving incident.

At last week’s press conference, Sean Browne, Spokesman and Representative for the PCC said they would be “implementing ignition locks and in-car breathalizers” to limit drunk driving on campus.

“This law has been passed in over 30 states” says Sean Browne, “and Pacechester should take those same precautions.”

In New Mexico, from 2012 to 2013, law enforcement saw a reduction from 128 crashes due to intoxication to 108, and also saw a decrease in DWI arrests. Many believe this was due to New Mexico’s ignition interlock law, which mandates that any person with a DWI offense must own and use an ignition interlock for their car. New Mexico leads the country in the amount of ignition interlocks per 10,000 residents.

For further details on the Power of Pacechester, we contacted Griselle Castillo but we did not receive a response as of the publication date of this piece.

Update in Craig Scott investigation

Pacechester Police Department released the Police Report regarding last week’s reckless driving incident this afternoon. The report includes Scott’s breath test results of .200. That is .12 over the legal limit in the state of New York!

This leads us to believe that Craig Scott was definitely under the influence during his crash last week.

The Pacechester Coalition held a press conference this afternoon discussing what they would like do to keep incidents like this one from happening again. They would like to implement breathalyzers in cars. That way, in order to start their car, the driver will have to  blow into the breathalyzer.

If you are over the legal limit, your car simply will not start. Seems like the best way to keep  drunk drivers off the road.

PaceFeed also got exclusive quotes from the Mayor’s Office.  Mayor Andrade released a new statement to the public stating,”it is unclear to us why Mr. Scott was charged with reckless driving rather than with a DUI”.  She also stated that Craig Scott will be “suspended without pay until further notice”.

When asked to clarify whether in last week’s press conference they were referring to Mr. Scott’s physical injuries or if he was recovering from his alcoholism, the Mayor’s Team response was, “yes, we were referring to the shoulder injury. We are unaware of if he’s taking stances to get sober”.
