Following a recent development where the TCPL or the Committee for Pacechester Liberty colluded with Deputy Sheriff, Chris Nocket, to distribute alcohol illegally at Pacechester, the question of who stands on which side of the ban is a concern.
For Pacechester University, a clear stance against alcohol, expressed through a press release detailing health concerns of prolonged alcohol use, is the message they are trying to send.
Pacechester University, “[called] on governmental, business and other community leaders to take a public stand in support of mortola county’s alcohol ban”, doubling down on a narrowly passed referendum that was passed 52% in favor, with 172,926, to 48% orĀ 158,014 votes opposing the ban.
The ban took effect on midnight of October 23rd for all of Pacechester, and ever since there has been opposition from groups such as the TCPL.
“We feel that even though Pacechester passed the legislation banning alcohol,” says Deputy Sheriff Chris Nocket. “they’re completely ignoring the fact that there is no such law in the rest of the United States. We felt it was a violation of the constitution.”
Nocket confirmed that he worked with the TCPL to distribute alcohol illegally in an attempt to raise public awareness of the opposition to this ban, with only the TCPL openly opposing the law currently. The issue is still a new one, with very few organizations at Pacechester willing to comment on the ban explicitly.
For the Mayor’s office, unity regarding gun control seemed a more pressing issue, as they refused to speak on the alcohol ban exclusively. When asked, Social Media Coordinator Gabby Corey did confirm that they wish for unity on the alcohol ban, but what that unity looks like was not discussed.
“We wanted people to be able to enjoy and exercise their civil liberties,” Nocket continued. “the legal channels can move very slowly, and a healthy amount of civil disobedience is a good way to get people in high positions to notice when the public is not happy with something.”
We reached out to TCPL for comment but did not receive a reply.
